OpenQuick answers
How is a batting average calculated?
Divide a batter's runs by the number of times they were dismissed. Innings in which the batter finished not out are left out of the divisor.
How many ways are there to get out in cricket?
The Laws of Cricket list nine: bowled, timed out, caught, hit the ball twice, hit wicket, leg before wicket, obstructing the field, run out and stumped.
What does 4-3-3 mean in football?
The numbers list the outfield players from defence to attack. 4-3-3 means four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, plus the goalkeeper.
Is a player offside if level with the last defender?
No. A player level with the second-last opponent is not in an offside position. Only a player closer to the goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent is.
How are teams ranked in a points table?
By points first. Teams level on points are separated by a tie-break set by the competition, such as net run rate in cricket or goal difference in football.
